Biography
Claude Faustus is one of many demons who have made a contract with a human. In the contract, the demon will help carry out the humans most ultimate desire in return for their soul to eat. In Claude's case, he is contracted to be the Alois Trancy's butler of the Trancy estate. Not a single trace of humanness inside of him, Claude awaits the time he can eat his master's soul and will do anything to make it go faster- even if it means lying, betrayal and killing his own master.

The Best Cosplay
The make-up here is so perfect that it has me speechless. It really looks like Claude has come out of the anime and into the real world. His glasses, hair, clothes and make-up are all accurate which makes this cosplayer officially Claude Faustus!
|
I do admire the pose here, and even though most people wouldn't notice this, but this cosplayer also has the correct length nails for Claude. Detail is key, and this cosplayer knows what they're doing.
Common Mistakes |
Again, everything looks correct. From the hair to the clothes, the make-up to the pose. You cosplayers sure are good and becoming Claude!
|
I think there are only a few things that needs fixing with this cosplay. The hair needs to be more straight with a few sticking-up parts, and Claude's tuxedo top doesn't have so many buttons on it. I think the make-up could also use some improvements.
|
The make-up, again, is fantastic. The pose, the clothes... there's only one little mistake in this cosplay- can you guess it? The glove. Claude's glove fits him perfectly and doesn't have such wide lines on the top.
|
The hair really is only missing a few sticking-up parts, and the tuxedo looks so nice. The only two things that need changing is the black gloves that should be white, and the contract seal which is on the wrong hand.

Notes to the Cosplayer
Claude Faustus- probably one of the most hated characters in the show (and I'm not saying I don't like him, because I love him!)- still plays such an important role in the second series of Kuroshitsuji. Being the butler of Alois Trancy, and the instigator of a complex plot line, it is essential to get his cosplay correct and do him justice. Here's a few tips and tricks to make sure you're dressed as the best Claude Faustus at any convention.
1. It is important to look for detail, as well as a good price when it comes to buying the cosplay. One thing that I find helpful is to re-watch the episodes with the cosplay that you want in it, and make any notes about details. Doing this when your cosplay arrives is a great idea, because you can see what needs altering, changing etc.
2. Once your cosplay arrives, look up images of the outfit worn by Claude. You can immediately notice any flaws with your own cosplay once you compare the two. Things to think about are
a) Are the sleeves too long?
b) Is the colour right?
c) Does the bow-tie need to be larger?
d) Does the hair need to stick up more, or be more straight?
e) Are the gloves a nice fit?
Thinking like this and always questioning will allow you to make the necessary changes that you need to be transformed into Claude Faustus.
3. Make sure you've got all of the correct items, down to the very last detail. Buy the wig, the contact lenses, the shoes, glasses, clothes, gloves... the list goes on.
4. Think about your characters appearance. There are unfortunately not a lot of YouTube videos for this character, but there are a few good ones, so follow them step-by-step and you should come out a Claude clone. Think about his large anime eyes, any scars or bruises he may have, his contract seal etc.
5. Get into the mind-set of your character. No Cosplay is complete without the personality. Claude is tough, monotone, uncaring and un-passionate... but he also has a love for eating souls and scary tap-dancing. You get his personality right, you get Claude right.
6. Looking up Claude cosplay pictures will help you to see why their cosplay is great, or why their cosplay is terrible. Learning from others mistake is key.
7. A last and final note- take pictures, videos and memorabilia, if your dressing up for fun or going to an event.
And so, with that, I bid you Happy Cosplaying. And remember,
"You get the character right, you get CosplayRight"
